Kat’s Latest Manicure: Purple Glitter French with Rhinestones and Spangles (September 18th, 2009)
So after seeing my nails that I have previously posted about, my sister Kathryn decided that she wanted to have her own nails done. He wanted hers to be a bit more blinged up than I had mine so I added lavender rhinestones that I recently purchased to the smile line.

I embeded the spangles using a UV top coat and then placed another layer over then to be able to sit the rhinestones on top. When the top coat cured, the rhinestones were stuck in place nicely.

The acrylic that I used to create these nails was called “Iris” from the Nfu Oh Micro Slice Glitter Collection II. I purchased the purple open-heart spangles at the Expo in Sydney and bought the rhinestones from a seller on eBay.
Hope you enjoyed!

Kat’s Neutral Dramitic Look: August 21st, 2009
This was a look I did for my sister when she was going out with her boyfriend for dinner. She wanted something that was neutral and wearable with a little bit of drama to it. I used a no name brand of false lashes to add the drama because I’ve been using false lashes in all of the looks I’ve been doing lately.

Mum’s Sculptured Acrylics: September 2nd, 2009
So this is only the third set of sculptured nails that I have done, but I can already see that I have improved a lot since the first time I attempted them. Its kind of made me a little proud of myself

Kat’s Acrylic Sculptures and Pedicure: August 18th, 2009
I took my sister in as a model for the nail class and did a set of acrylic sculptures on her. She decided when we got home that she didnt want a pink and white French manicure so she searched though my nail polishes and picked out China Glaze “Ruby Pumps”. After applying the nail polish I gave her a pedicure and applied Ruby Pumps to her toe nails so they would match her nails. The looked really fancy

July 31st, 2009: Broken Pinky Nail Repair
This was my quick job at repairing my poor broken acrylic nail. I was getting into bed when it snagged on something late the other night and it ripped off half my nail (and my nicely grown natural nail with it)
.
This is what it looked like to begin with:

Yeah, looks sad doesn’t it. It hurt a crap load too.
I waited a few days till I did anything else to it so I could let it heal slightly. I soaked my nail in acetone to remove the acrylic from the nail and then rebuilt the nail with a natural tip and come clean acrylic. Here is the end result:

I’m not saying this is the way to fix a broken nail, if you don’t know what you’re doing its probably best to get a professional’s advice, but I am training to be a professional and I just wanted a quick fix because I had to go out that night.
I thought it turned out pretty well and it surved its purpose, and surprisingly it is still on and going strong! Till next time…

Jordy’s Frist Set of Sculptured Nails: July 28th, 2009
So I got to learn how to do Sculptured nails yesterday. It was interesting. I sort of had an idea how to do it already from watching things on Youtube but I’m happy that I got to learn how to do it properly. It was basically like applying pink and white acrylic over a tip except instead of a tip, there was a form.

Jordy’s Acrylic Nails: July 21st, 2009
This is the latest round of acrylics I’ve done in class. I think I’m getting pretty good at the smile line and that kinda thing, and the shape of the nails is also improving.

Kat and Janelle’s Makeovers: July 17th, 2009
My sister and her friend were going out for Kat’s birthday last Friday and I got the job of making them up for the night. It gave me a chance to practice doing makeup and also gave me something to do on a boring night in. I got free drinks out of it so it was pretty good.

Kat was wearing a really glittery disco-ball number with matching shoes, so I gave her a silver and black smokey eye. I applied thick false lashes with three rhinestones to the outer corner for that extra drama and bit of sparkle.
(see what I mean about a “disco-ball” dress)

Janelle was wearing a black and gold dress so yet again I took that for inspiration. I made the colour a little more bronzey than the dress to make her blue eyes stand out more. I also added false lashes, more natural ones as it was the first time Janelle had ever worn them.

I think they both turned out really well. I like it when Kat goes out, it gives me a chance to practice makeup.

Mum’s Pink and White French with Gold Glitter: July 19th, 2009
Ok, so yesterday I went out with my mothr to my new favorite shop and bought some striping nail art polishes. I only got three of them to try them out. I previously also purchased a starter kit for the EzFlow acrylic nails system. Last night I tried out the EzFlow system on mum’s nails (after she spent an hour soaking off the glitter acrylics she was already wearing).
The nails turned out really well and I am really impressed with the EzFlow system. It is very similar to the Nfu.Oh system that I use in my classes. I picked the EzFlow up because I didn’t want to use my Nfu.Oh outside of my classes when I am practicing just incase I use too much and then have to go and buy a crap load more of the stuff. I had previously bought some cheap product from a nail supply store near me but I didn’t like the product worked. EzFlow is really really nice.
So yeah, as I was saying, I tried out the EzFlow on mum. I used white tips and then did a pink and white overlay. They got buffed and shined up last night and looked really really good. This morning we decided that we were going to try out the striping polishes. We only bought glitter ones so I used a gold glitter on the smile line of mum’s acrylics. Mum likes gold more than silver and I thought that it showed up a lot better anyway.
Here are the results:

I feel that the gold on the smile line adds a little more glamour to an otherwise regular French manicure. I’m definetly going to go back and get some more of these striping brushes, maybe in a solid colour instead of glitter this time

Mum’s Blue Holo Glitter Nails: July 15th, 2009
I was practising my acrylic nails on my practise hand and mum asked me to give her acrylic nails so she could show the ladies who she worked with how I was going in my course. I used one of the glitter acrylics that I mixed. We chose the Blue Holo because it was mum’s favorite out of the acrylics that I’ve made and it also matches her uniform.

As you can see, as I practise doing my acrylics I do improve. I was really happy with the way these turned out and mum was thrilled with the results as well.
